Key Product Features
Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2)
Provides compute resources of various types with different processing, memory and storage configurations . Instances can be started , shutdown , duplicated , backed-up in a matter of minutes and fresh instances can be built from standard library of images as well as custom images built from existing instances.
Simple Storage Service(S3)
Provides storage capability to store objects that can be referenced and accessed based on a key-value paradigm. Objects includes multi-media files , data base and image backups and other large sized objects. S3 also provides various cheaper storage like Glacier and Deep Glacier which provides cheap long term storage options .
Elastic Load Balance (ELB)
Allows multiple compute resources to service requests in a load balanced fashion allowing the overall system to scale horizontally. The service comes in two variants – Classic Load Balancing and Application Load Balancing .
CloudFront
Amazon CloudFront is a global content delivery system that leverages Amazon’s vast global infrastructure to deliver contents with optimized speed and cost. CloudFront ensures that content is closer to the users and improves the user experience by delivering the content faster by serving the content from the AWS region closer to the end user.
Elastic Block Store (EBS)
AWS Elastic Block Storage provides persistent block-level storage volumes for EC2 instances with low latency. It also allows system to access high speed SSD storage or cheaper disk drive storage and to layer the security on top of the block storage with access control lists and encryption.
CloudWatch
Cloudwatch is the monitoring service for resources and applications running in AWS. It gathers logs and monitor metrics for key resources like:
- Amazon EC2 instance
- Amazon DynamoDB tables
- Amazon RDS DB instances
- Custom metrics generated by any hosted application or service
